El presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador supervisó obras y evaluó el avance de la construcción de caminos artesanales, puentes y carreteras en el Istmo de Tehuantepec.
En una publicación en sus redes sociales, el mandatario dio cuenta de estas actividades que realizó de forma privada acompañado de servidores públicos del gobierno federal, la gobernadora de Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda y los gobernadores de Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz y de Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García Jiménez.
De acuerdo con datos de la Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes y del Instituto Nacional de los Pueblos Indígenas, el Programa de Pavimentación de Caminos a Cabeceras Municipales se aplica en diez entidades federativas de la República: Chihuahua, Durango, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Sonora, Tlaxcala y Veracruz.

La inversión programada total de esta iniciativa asciende a 18 mil 972 millones de pesos para construir 416 caminos que suman 4 mil 175 kilómetros.
A la fecha se han construido 190 caminos que representan más de 2 mil 526 kilómetros y una inversión de 11 mil 745 millones de pesos.
El Programa de Pavimentación de Caminos a Cabeceras Municipales ha beneficiado a dos millones de habitantes y generado 72 mil empleos.
Este año se tiene programado concluir 114 caminos equivalentes a mil 2 kilómetros con una inversión de 4 mil 108 millones de pesos.
En 2024, el objetivo es construir 112 caminos que representan 647 kilómetros más con una inversión de 3 mil 119 millones de pesos.
